What is Relay?
Relay is an instant cross-chain bridge protocol that leverages a network of relayers to provide near-instant asset transfers between blockchain networks. Built by the Reservoir team, Relay focuses on speed, consistently delivering transfers in under 10 seconds for most routes. The protocol uses an intent-based architecture where users express what they want to accomplish, and relayers compete to fulfill those intents. This enables unprecedented speed. Users often receive destination chain funds before the source chain transaction is even fully confirmed. Relayers front their own capital and are reimbursed after the source transaction settles.
Key Statistics
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| . . . . | . . . - |
| Transfer Speed | <10 seconds typical |
| Supported Chains | 10+ networks |
| Active Relayers | Growing network |
How Relay Works
User specifies source/destination chains and assets, relayers compete to fill the order fastest, winning relayer sends funds on destination chain, user's source transaction confirms, relayer claims source chain funds.
Why So Fast?
Pre-positioned liquidity, optimistic execution (relayers send before confirmation), MEV protection.
Supported Chains
Primary Chains: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, ZoraUse Cases
Instant DeFi positioning, NFT operations, cross-chain gaming, fast everyday transfers.
