Equity perpetual futures funding rates
Sunday 23:00 UTC was the strongest shared weekly funding slot in the latest window. It ranked first for4 markets and second for TSLA. Monday 00:00 UTC also ranked in the top ten for three markets, so the two hours are better understood as a weekly reopening boundary than a durable single-hour pattern. The Sunday 03:00 UTC cluster observed in August did not repeat, and none of these hours should be treated as a permanent trading rule.

Each cell averages the same UTC hour across four weeks and all five markets. Green is positive funding and red is negative. Funding direction can change within the hour and after the measured window.

What changed since August
The earlier observation
The August heatmap found the single most positive observation for NVDA, TSLA and AMZN at Sunday 03:00 UTC during one 14-day sample. It was a useful observation, but it was never evidence of a stable weekly effect.
The current result
Sunday 03:00 UTC placed in the top ten for 0 of five markets. Sunday 23:00 UTC placed in the top ten for 5 of five, but that result also needs later windows before it can be called persistent.
What these contracts are
The five markets are equity-named perpetual futures on Hyperliquid. They provide price exposure through a margined derivative. They are not shares and do not settle as the tokenized equities listed in the Fensory app. Funding is one trading cost or receipt; price movement, fees, leverage, liquidation and slippage also affect a position.
Methodology
We pulled hourly funding history from Hyperliquidโs public fundingHistory endpoint for xyz:AAPL, xyz:AMZN, xyz:MSFT, xyz:NVDA and xyz:TSLA. The fixed window runs from 23 September 2026 at 00:00 UTC to 21 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC, excluding the end timestamp. Each market has 672 observations.
Weekly slots average four observations for the same UTC weekday and hour. The cross-market heatmap then averages those five market-level slots. Simple annualized equivalents multiply the observed mean hourly rate by 24 and 365 without compounding. No causal claim is made about why a slot was high or low.
Questions people ask
- What is an equity perpetual future?
- It is a derivative that tracks the price of a named equity without settling as a share or tokenized equity. The contracts in this dataset trade on Hyperliquid under the xyz prefix.
- How often does Hyperliquid funding settle?
- Hyperliquid funding is paid hourly. A positive rate transfers funding from long positions to short positions, while a negative rate reverses that direction.
- Did the August Sunday 03:00 UTC pattern repeat?
- No. In this 28-day window, Sunday 03:00 UTC was not a top-ten weekly slot for any of the five markets. Sunday 23:00 UTC was the strongest shared slot instead.
- Is the annualized figure a forecast or investment return?
- No. It is the observed average hourly funding rate multiplied by 24 hours and 365 days. It does not include price movement, fees, slippage, compounding or changes in future funding.
- Can I reproduce this analysis?
- Yes. Download the hourly CSV and group observations by market, UTC weekday and UTC hour. The page states the exact window and the public Hyperliquid endpoint used.
